Butch Wise

F.E. “Butch” Wise is one of the most respected and influential figures in the Quarter Horse racing industry, with a career built on elite bloodstock selection, sale leadership, and an unmatched ability to recognize value. Raised in Oklahoma and immersed in horses from an early age, Butch developed a sharp, instinctive eye that has guided decades of success at the highest levels of the market.

After earning a degree in Animal Science from Oklahoma State University, he built his foundation working in stallion operations and traveling the country through major horse sales—gaining firsthand experience with top breeders, buyers, and bloodlines. Since establishing himself as a bloodstock agent in 1978, Butch has been behind some of the industry’s most important transactions, including the acquisition and sale of legendary horses like Refridgerator.

Through his leadership at Ridgeleigh Farms and the iconic Lazy E Ranch, Butch has helped shape some of the most successful breeding and sales programs in the country—consistently producing top-selling yearlings and influencing generations of elite racehorses. His role in identifying and positioning Corona Cartel as a cornerstone sire in Oklahoma remains one of the most impactful decisions in modern Quarter Horse racing.
