Thiago Boechat is one of the founders and owners of GeneTech Animal Reproduction and a graduate of Veterinary Medicine from Unoeste in Presidente Prudente, São Paulo. His path into the U.S. equine industry began in 1993, when he came to train reining horses, and he returned in 1999 to build a career spanning reining, equine reproduction, and training.
A two-time World Reining Champion who competed at the top of the sport for more than 14 years, Thiago now brings that same standard to the science of reproduction.
Today he leads GeneTech Animal Reproduction, one of the industry's leading ICSI labs. ICSI — injecting a single sperm directly into an egg — lets one straw of semen, or a mare who simply won't settle the conventional way, produce multiple embryos and multiple foals. It is the most technically demanding work in the breeding shed, and it is where Thiago and his team operate every day. That depth means he reads a reproduction program the way few people can: he can look at how a stallion is being collected and managed, or why a mare keeps coming up empty, and tell you exactly where the results are being lost.
As an advisor with Solo Select, that diagnostic eye is on your side. Thiago finds the holes in a stallion or mare management program — the timing that's off, the protocols leaving embryos on the table, the quiet reproductive issues capping your foal crop — and fixes them with a science-backed plan. For owners breeding serious horses, that means more foals on the ground from the mares and stallions you've already invested in, and a reproduction program built to actually perform.
